Cookie Policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

The short version: this site does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and does not set any cookie that requires your consent. That is why you will not see a cookie banner here.

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Cookies are commonly used to remember you between visits, to keep you logged in, or — most controversially — to follow you across different websites and build an advertising profile.

Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), a website must obtain your consent before setting any cookie that is not strictly necessary for the service you asked for. Analytics cookies, advertising cookies and social-media pixels all require consent. Strictly necessary cookies do not.

2. What this site uses

Frontmate sets no first-party cookies of its own. The only cookies that may be set on this domain come from Cloudflare, which hosts and protects the site, and they fall into the strictly-necessary category.

CookieSet byPurposeDuration
__cf_bm Cloudflare Distinguishes human visitors from automated bots so the site can block abusive traffic. Strictly necessary for security. 30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Set only if you are shown a security challenge. Records that you passed it, so you are not challenged repeatedly. Strictly necessary for security. Up to 1 year

Both are classed as strictly necessary because without them the site cannot defend itself against automated attacks. Neither is used for analytics, profiling or advertising, and neither is used to identify you personally.

3. Analytics without cookies

We do want to know which pages people find useful — but we do not think that justifies tracking you. So instead of Google Analytics, this site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures page views without setting a cookie, without a persistent identifier, and without following you to other websites.

It tells us things like "twelve people looked at the dentists page this week, mostly from Google". It cannot tell us who you are, and it cannot recognise you if you come back.

4. What this site does not use

We do not sell or share your browsing behaviour with anyone.

5. Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Because this site only relies on strictly-necessary security cookies, blocking them will not break the content — though you may be challenged more often by Cloudflare's bot protection.

Guidance for each major browser is available at aboutcookies.org.

6. Changes

If we ever add a cookie that requires consent, we will add a consent banner and update this page before doing so. We have no plans to.
